About

MEM Interior Design is a full-service interior design firm committed to helping clients create beautiful, refined spaces made for real life.

MEM’s founder Mary Kate Edwards lives to demystify the design experience, welcoming clients along for the joyful process of making their home a more honest reflection of who they are and how they want to live. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, she grew up with family in the construction industry and fell in love with the historic homes and classic style that defined her childhood. Edwards earned degrees in Psychology and Art History from the University of Texas at Austin, and later graduated with a degree in Interior Design from the Parsons School of Design in New York.

For nearly a decade in New York City, she worked for MR Architecture + Decor and Drake/Anderson, designing apartments and historic townhomes in some of Manhattan’s most iconic places: from the A.M. Stern building in Gramercy Park, to buildings in the Upper East Side overlooking the Met. These one-in-a-lifetime opportunities evolved Edwards’ vision and aesthetic, introducing her to a world of expert craftsmen and makers and giving her the unique ability to create a captivating dialogue between time periods. When she moved back to Nashville, Tennessee, she joined Dryden Architecture, bringing her experience to bear on projects across her booming hometown.

Edwards founded MEM Interior Design in 2015. A natural listener with discerning style, she now works collaboratively with architects, builders and homeowners to create peaceful, inviting environments that shine in real life, not just photo shoots. MEM Interior Design’s process is collaborative and enjoyable, with the end result being a home that feels truly yours. The firm works on projects of all sizes, scopes and styles, from new construction and gut renovations to interior decoration. Whether creating a sanctuary in the woods, or a home built to sustain the energy of a growing family, Edwards brings a sense of professionalism, playfulness, and attention to detail to every project.

Over the years, MEM Interior Design and Mary Kate Edwards’ work has been featured in House Beautiful, New York Spaces, and Nashville Interiors. The firm has completed projects in New York, Florida, and Tennessee.
